System 7.1's special Fonts folder can be used for more than the obvious. Any resource file the system finds in that folder is opened and its resources made available to any program running as well as the system, as long as the file is of type 'FFIL' (a font suitcase), or 'ffil' (a font file). Hence if a resource file containing sounds had type 'FFIL' and were in the Fonts folder, those sounds would be available in the Sounds control panel and for use by the system. The same is true for PICTs and F key resources. FontFaker71 is a simple drag and drop utility that makes it trivial for users to take advantage of this feature. Any resource file dropped on FontFaker71 has its file type changed to 'FFIL', and its creator signature is changed to that of FontFaker71 (this gives the file an icon that allows you to recognize it as being a file modified by FontFaker71). Dropping that file back onto FontFaker71 restores the original file type and creator signature, and removes the 'ƒƒ71' resource, so the file is back the way it was.
Moving the file in and out of the Fonts folder is up to you. I could move it in when the file is converted, but the system wouldn't know about it that way. If you drag it in yourself, it's available right away.
